Murphy has come a knocking

Murphy has moved into our spare bedroom ... don't believe me? Read on my friend...

1. Our central A/C busted -- we call out the repair man ... he's over 4 hours late ... I have an important meeting at noon ... he shows up at noon ... I rush him through the house, he looks at the A/C for 20 minutes, and tells me our furnace is dirty and our fan switch doesn't work - the former being the problem with the A/C. 2 more men come, don't address the problem ... it still isn't working.

2. The A/C in my car breaks -- a simple top up of freon fixes it after a hot ride back to Ancaster

2. We bring our car in for a simple rear brake job --- mechanics call and quote us over 700 b/c the roters are rotten and the front brakes need maintenance. We tell them to just to the rear, and let us do the front (by us, I mean my willing father). They call back - tell us that the e-brake cable is seized and needs to be replaced for 280...we tell them to forget it and we'll do it ourselves. Here's where Murphy takes a break -- we bring the car to Dad ... he figures out that it doesn't even need it!

3. We leave both our wallet and purse at my parents house when we're home for the weekend for Renee and Conner's shower...our cars have less than 1/4 tank of gas left in them when we get home to London ... my parents wonderfully offer to meet us half way. Seriously have no brains left in our head.

4. That same day Mike locks the keys in the car while putting gas in the car -- I have to drive down to rescue him.

At the end of these last few weeks, all we can do is laugh and put the small problems into perspective - we're healthy, happy, employed and ridiculously blessed in so many ways. (Although I'm not denying that pregnancy hormones may have rendered me a wee bit more emotional than I've ever been in the past)

At times like this -- we're just immensely thankful that we have saved for visits from Murphy, although it still doesn't make it any easier to fork over the money.
